Where do we start?
Pick the outing you want to tell: photo, trace and data become one visual, ready to share.
From Strava
Pick from a list. No file to hunt for.
From a file
Garmin, Komoot, Suunto, Wahoo. GPX or FIT.
Where do I find it?
- You need the recorded activity, not a planned route: they are two different files, and the second one doesn’t hold the trace of where you actually went.
- With Strava you don’t need a file at all: use “Connect with Strava” above and pick the activity from the list.
- On Komoot you can do it from the phone: open the tour and look for “Download GPX file”.
- On Garmin you need the website, not the app: the app has no export — it isn’t a hidden menu, it simply isn’t there. The site works fine from a phone, though.
- If opening connect.garmin.com launches the app instead, open a private tab and try again from there: in private browsing you stay in the browser. Same trick for strava.com, if you’d rather have the file.
- On Garmin prefer FIT over GPX: we read both, and FIT carries more data.
Gym, treadmill, anything without GPS?
You need the FIT, not the GPX. For those activities Garmin exports an empty GPX: it has the name and the date, but no numbers. The FIT brings duration, calories and heart rate. On Garmin Connect choose “Export original file” instead of “Export GPX”.
