From Garmin Connect
From the browser, not the app — a phone browser is fine.
- 1
Open your browser and go to Garmin Connect. Your phone browser works too.
Open connect.garmin.com - 2
If the Garmin app opens instead of the site, open a private tab and try again from there: in private browsing the link stays in the browser.
- 3
Sign in if you haven’t already, and open the activity you want.
- 4
Top right there is a gear icon: open it.
- 5
Choose “Export Original File” — that is the FIT — or “Export to GPX”. If the activity has no GPS (gym, treadmill, classes) the FIT isn’t a preference but the only way: for those outings the GPX comes out empty, with the name and the date but no numbers.
- 6
The file lands in Downloads. Go back to OORMA, tap “Upload activity manually” and pick that file.
If you get to choose, take the FIT: it holds more data than the GPX and we read it just the same — and for activities without GPS it is the only one that carries duration, calories and heart rate. The Garmin app has no export at all: we checked, it isn’t a hidden menu.
